London Design Week ’15 – A Snapshot
London has always been a mecca for fashion and design, but the city truly comes alive during September each year for London Design Week. We perused several interior exhibitions during our visit and have pulled together an inspiration guide full of our favourite up and coming trends…
BIG news. We were blown away by the love, care and attention to detail presented within interiors. From beautiful hand painted wallpapers to carefully constructed bowls, craftsmen and women were demonstrating their trades and showcasing their products proudly. Here at G Plan we believe that true quality comes from quality materials and craftsmanship so it was fantastic to see so many beautiful items that were so finely designed and lovingly finished.
The sophistication, glamour and intricacy of the interiors market has reached new heights. We haven’t seen such delicate patterns, fabrics and surfaces since the 40s. Heaven.
Another style we’re falling in love with is the use of weaving techniques with wool to create stunning pieces for the home. It looks like the trend for creating light and shade with different materials is here to stay.
Ceramics really made themselves a centrepiece at Design Week 2015. Daring creations really stood out from the crowd, but we also spotted many smaller and simpler pieces that were equally as beautiful and would pair really well with our mid-century inspired sofas and chairs.
We’ve recently blogged about the ever-popular upcycling trend, and recycling hasn’t gone away either. We saw some really creative ways to recycle in both interiors and fashion and we’re always happy to support a style that helps our environment as well as bringing beauty to our homes.
