We’ve always loved the trend for timeless, pared-back Nordic style and in this week’s blog we’re looking at ways to take this scheme into the cosy Autumn months and beyond. As we welcome in a new season it’s time to think about how we get the home ready for those ‘hibernation’ months when, let’s face it, we just want to be indoors!
It’s possible to keep the clean, minimalist lines and organic shapes that are instantly recognisable as Nordic, but make your space inviting and comforting. Warm up a traditional Nordic colour palette of muted shades, with richer, darker shades of grey, charcoal and aubergine. Our favourites in the G Plan Vintage range include Matt Velvet Smoke, Marl Aubergine and Brush Slate.
Take this style into Autumn with rich textures including soft-touch, velvety fabrics and chunky knits. Introducing layers with lots of cushions, rugs and throws will bring texture and tone to a pared back minimalist scheme. A minimalist design like this Leaf rug from Plantation works well. We love a splash of on-trend pink to add a touch of femininity to a dark backdrop.
No need to go overboard with accessories. A large basket of logs and a carefully placed pile of home magazines will help give your room a relaxed feeling. Think about how to bring a sense of the Autumn outdoors into your space with earthy tones and metallic accents. There are beautiful wallpapers available at the moment in luxe gold and bronze shades, as well as copper lightshades, lamps and planters which will bring a warming glow to your home.
Finishing touches can make all the difference. Simple strips of foliage and succulents with a bronze or pink tone will work well in this scheme, bringing a sense of the autumn indoors but in-keeping with that sparse Nordic style.
Embrace the Nordic trend this season with the same simple, stunning design but with a moodier, more mysterious colour palette. Invite this pared back but alluring look into your home and we can assure you, you won’t want to leave it this Autumn!
